I think a witch is a word that is inaccurate. The dictionary says a witch is someone who is supposed to practice magic. Well, yeah, I guess so. Except that traditional witches were more often village healers and herb women. Often enough they followed the dominant religion at the time. They seem to have more in common with the modern term “Kitchen witch” than anything else. A magician could practice magic without any gods whatsoever. And a shaman was something else yet again.
